Published author and children's counselor, Tanya Sousa will visit the Alice Ward Memorial Library to work with children and parents on how to create whimsical "retellings" of favorite fairy tales for fun, family bonding, and story-telling/literacy practice. These retellings place loved ones (pets or people) into the events, changing details enough so it creates a familiar but new story. Everyone there of any age will have the opportunity to hear one of Tanya's fairytale recreations and will then will have the chance to create a fairytale too. Some individuals may choose to create one on his/her own while other fairytales may come from the ideas of a parent and a child together or by a family group. Stories may be written down or shared orally. This is a fun event that is impossible to do wrong, and something everyone can do at home later again and again. This is a program offered thanks to Northeast Kingdom Learning Services and the Alice M. Ward Memorial Library.
